North Kessock Community Pier & Slipway
A slipway and pier maintained by a local community charitable trust.
Description
North Kessock Community Pier and Slipway is located near the mouth of the Beauly Firth.
It offers convenient access to the northern entrance to the Caledonian Canal, often used for the recovery of boats that have participated in Sail Caledonia.
North Kessock is located on the northern shore of the Beauly Firth, so offers good protection when the weather is from the north. For all other directions, care should be taken as the swell can roll in at the bottom of the slipway.
Historically, North Kessock Pier was a crossing point between North and South Kessock, providing a vital service for local communities. The last service operated from the pier in 1982, with the opening of the Kessock Bridge, leading to the pier's decline.
In 2011, the local community formed a charitable trust to maintain the pier and slipway for future use. Charitable donations are welcome.
